January 2024 Newsletter: What is happening, watching & listening to!
What are you up to, what are you watching? What are you reading? What are you listening to? What is trending? The most popular four questions I am asked daily by clients and friends! Well let’s just jump right in…
What a freaking year…holy smokes, thank goodness it’s behind us!
The month of December felt like it was the slowest month but yet it flew right by. I was insanely busy at the salon, had record breaking sales, the little gift bags were a hit! I am going to have to revamp that for next year! I am eternally grateful for my amazing clients and the understanding with the schedule changes, the crazy things happening to me within my personal life. I will first off say, new clients are not being seen right now. I am going to start taking them in the spring. Not that I don’t want to grow but I need a much needed break and a step back to find myself. I am going to be in the salon Thursday, Friday, & Saturday’s. This can vary by month, but I will be accommodating to the best of my ability. I will add a wait list and if there is a day/time that works better for you, I may be able to accommodate.
So I was watching, of course, all the Holiday movies a girl could fit in daily! I kept the Hallmark channel on, but I rewatched every holiday movie. Since January started for a week, I have been watching stranger things all over again. I tried to finish Sweet Magnolia’s (it was rough). I made it a point to read a lot more this past month and plan to read a lot more! I finished a book by Tessa Bailey in 2 weeks, Wreck the Halls. All of her books are AMAZING! I am now reading another one, Window Shopping. I am going to update the book list once I finish this one…stay tuned!
I am listening to a LOT of Taylor Swift, it may be the only thing keeping me calm. Kristen Cavallari’s Podcast ‘Let’s be Honest’, like it’s helping me A LOT, catching up on Call her Daddy, Besties in Business, Make it count, Let’s Go Girls, New Heights & Affirmation Babe! Honestly these are giving me LIFE!!
I am noticing the hair trend is still neutral, low maintenance hair. I am here for it, it’s more about self care, coming in for a treatment, the dry hair and scalp. It’s in need of moisturizing. Make sure to use either Leaf + Flower 3-1 Molecular Oil or Oi Oil. If we have to moisturize our hands we must do it for our hair!
My update is I have moved, I no longer live in Old Bridge, this is the update that kept me even more busy throughout the month along with holiday hair! We sold our house, we separated and I am now starting a new chapter in my life. This is something I felt like was needed for me. I love someone, but I love myself more and want more out of life. I will respect him and not go into details, but I am going to be doing a whole brand remodel and share a lot of things on how I am taking care of me, why I did some of the things I did, maybe share my views on if someone else is feeling the same way to take charge of their life, since we are only here for this one life! I want to say that when I decided to end the relationship in the fall, I knew it was the best decision for me. It was my entire 30’s with someone and it’s never easy to put your feelings finally before someone else, but it was needed in my case. I am going to be starting a podcast by Spring, going to start sharing how I decorate my new apartment and what I am doing for myself and how I am navigating being single in my late 30s! It’s a wild world and I have a ton of things to share! I am not going to censor too much, since it’s my personal opinion , what I am going through and I feel like a lot of us are going through the same thing! So far the conversations I am having at least I know a group of people going through similar feelings. So let’s normalize it and let’s talk about it! The good, the bad, the ugly cries, the screaming, the de-lulu life I am making for me, but I took the leap and here I am, going through EVERY motion, emotion and don’t mind sharing what I am doing to cope. If I help one person out there, then I am happy!
I cannot wait to hear what you’re watching, reading and listening too! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Xo, Shay!
